CROATIAN TEXTURES

The Croatian Textures series results from a voyage. The voyage took place in 2007 and was the culmination of hours of discussion, cajoling and persuasion. That year, both Sonja and her father celebrated milestone birthdays. Her father suggested that after “ignoring” the Croatian side of her heritage for many years, they take a trip with her mother “back to the old country”. Between the stresses and strains of daily living, jobs, dogs, and responsibilities, they finally made the trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia in September. Each photograph illustrates a texture that is seminal to the makeup of the Croatian coast; the Adriatic Sea, the stone, the clay roof tiles, and so on.
